Job Duties
Successful candidate will among other things:
- Assist with planning and organising of meetings within and outside of Nigeria;
- Communicate with project staff and partners in other countries;
- Compile inputs and prepare other reports for donors
- Prepare presentations and budgets;
- Establish and maintain different databases for the project;
- Search the internet for IPM relevant news such as upcoming events, pest outbreaks, new publications etc;
- Identify, draft and upload new postings on the SP-IPM website;
- Assist in the compilation of materials for publications;
- Liaise with IITA’s support units such as Publishing, Travel Office, Procurement, Computer Help Desk etc;
- Carry out day to day secretarial duties and other assignments as may be assigned by the Supervisor;
B.Sc in Business Administration with 3 years working experience or HND in Secretarial Studies/Administration with 5 years working experience.
The ideal candidate must
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and internet-based search engines
- Have experience in the production of information materials

- Demonstrate ability to take initiative and work satisfactorily with minimum supervision
- Working experience in an international organization is desirable
- Knowledge of HTML is an asset

Job Duties
Successful candidate will among other things:
- Prepare and review financial statements;
- Check, process and report on returns and provide justifications for funds granted to IITA collaborators/partners;
- Raise journals for necessary adjustments on various accounts and load some on oracle interface;
- Attend to queries raised by budget officers on restricted projects;
- Update, review and reconcile bill receivables from donors with the total grant income of restricted projects;
- Assist in the preparation of overhead charges to restricted projects;
- Assist in the checking of Cashier’s cash balances as scheduled;
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisor;

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (KANO STATION) (2-year renewable contract)
Job Duties
Successful candidate will among other things:
- Design, establish and maintain field experiments;
- Undertake data management and analysis; and contribute to reporting of research outputs;
- Support project staff to meet reporting and monitoring and evaluation requirements of the project activities.
- Facilitate all aspects of the project’s operations and management of logistics;
- Support the training of students and visiting trainees;
- Carry out any other task assigned by the Supervisor;
Qualification and Experience
- M.Sc. in Agronomy, Crop Science or a related discipline.
- Experience with and proven skills in the accurate collection and analysis of agronomic and socio-economic data in field trials are added advantage.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Have good communication skills (a good knowledge of Hausa is an asset)
- Possess good computer skills and be able to use statistical analysis systems such as Genstat and Excel
- Possess a valid Driver’s License

- Coordinate and implement office procedures for smooth-running and effective office functioning;
- Maintain an effective filing system and safe-keeping of confidential documents;
- Manage and maintain an inventory of office equipment and other office resources.
- Arrange appointments and meetings for Scientists;
- Provide administrative and logistic support to staff and visitors;
- Assist Scientists in retrieval of information, data and documents;
- Assist in preparation of administrative and financial reports.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
- BSc/HND in an Agricultural Science discipline.
- At least three (3) years post-qualification working experience in a large organisation.
- Possess very strong oral and written communication skills.
- Be honest, hardworking and be able to work in a multi-cultural environment.
