University Librarian at Ahmadu Bello University
By the authority of the Governing Council of the University, the soon to be vacant post of the University Librarian of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria is hereby advertised in accordance with the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Decree No 11 of 1993 as further amended by Decree No 11 of 1996 and 2012 to commence the process for the appointment of substantive University Librarian. Interested candidates who meet requisite qualifications and cognate experience as specified below are invited to apply.Job Title: University Librarian
Duties;
The University Librarian shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the overall administration of the University Library, its branches and extension and for providing library services for the entire University community.
Qualifications and Experience;
Candidates for this post must:
- Be professionally qualified and be practicing librarians;
- Possess a good Honours Degree in Library and Information Science from a recognized University, plus a higher degree (preferably Ph.D) with at least 15 (fifteen) years relevant experience, preferably in a University or other institutions of higher learning
- Have contributed to knowledge through research and publications in reputable journals, as well as possess proven records of sound administrative leadership.
- Be computer literate and proficient in computer applications.
The tenure of the University Librarian, as a Principal Officer of the University, is for a single term of 5 (five) years.
Salary and Conditions of Service;
The successful applicant will be placed on CONUASS 7 with relevant fringe benefits, and will equally enjoy all allowances normally attached to the position of Principal Officers in Nigerian Universities.
